How to edit a PSD SmartObject

Editing PSD Smart Objects in Adobe Photoshop is a simple process that allows you to make changes to a design while maintaining the original image’s quality and resolution. Here are the steps to edit a PSD Smart Object:

1. Open the PSD file in Adobe Photoshop.
2. Locate the Smart Object layer in the Layers panel. It is usually denoted by a icon.
3. Right-click on the Smart Object layer and select “Edit Contents” from the context menu.
4. The Smart Object will open in a new Photoshop window, allowing you to make changes to the design.
5. Once you have made your changes, save the Smart Object.
6. The changes will now be reflected in the original PSD file.

It’s important to note that once you edit a Smart Object, the changes will be applied to all other instances of the object throughout the PSD document.

Also, you can copy and paste Smart Object layer multiple times in a PSD file and every layer will have its own editable contents, this allows to have multiple variations of the same object in the same document.

Some additional tips:

• Be sure to save the Smart Object before returning to the main PSD file.
• If you make changes to the Smart Object and decide you want to revert back to the original, you can right-click on the Smart Object layer and select “Revert to original”
• When you’re finished editing, you can save your PSD file as normal.
